ABOUT PAINTING
”I paint to come closer to myself. To find a certain inner tone and mood. When I feel that I can identify myself with the painting, that is when I realize it is complete. If I discover that a painting does not talk back to me, I continue to work on it until it feels closer. I try to avoid symbolism in my work in order not to associate it to any geographical thinking. Painting should radiate a universal condition which is timeless and sublime.
The canvas gets heavier with layers on top of layers of paint, until it gradually appears as the finished work. For me each painting is a physical object. A screen with thin or thick coats of paint. It is not a picture or rendition of things from our everyday lives. The experince of a painting should come closer to our subconscious perception of feelings.”
